What you’ll do

As an Associate Nurse Unit Manager at TDHS, you will provide clinical leadership and support our nursing team to deliver safe, high quality, person centred care. Working closely with the Nurse Unit Manager, you will coordinate shifts, prioritise and delegate care, and support staffing and the effective use of resources to meet patient needs.

You will supervise and mentor nursing staff and students, promote a supportive learning environment and work collaboratively with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team to achieve positive care outcomes. You will also contribute to quality improvement, risk management and policy development, and take responsibility for portfolios allocated by the Nurse Unit Manager. In their absence, you will oversee the ward’s nursing and administrative services, ensuring continuity of care and smooth daily operations.

About You

You will be a Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration, relevant clinical experience and at least three years of postgraduate experience, including management experience. You will bring strong clinical judgement, demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage emergency situations confidently.

Approachable and supportive, you will enjoy guiding colleagues and building positive working relationships. Your organisational and communication skills will help you prioritise competing demands, delegate effectively and adapt to changing needs while maintaining a high standard of care. You will also bring computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, and exposure to interpreting and applying awards and industrial agreements.

Current competency in defibrillation or an ALS equivalent, IV cannulation skills and additional tertiary qualifications, or progress towards them, would be highly regarded.
