Colac Area Health is a values based organisation providing a unique integrated health service comprising of over 500 employees, providing Acute Care, Aged Care, Community and Allied Health Services.
The Family Support Service offers flexible and responsive assistance to vulnerable families in the Colac Otway and Corangamite Shires. The service promotes the safety of children and supports families to work towards negotiated goals that will improve the safety, health and wellbeing of the family. The program comprises casework, counselling, case management and support to families in their homes and other settings. It is based on a collaborative approach to assist vulnerable families to build on their existing strengths to further develop coping skills. This role may require intake, assessment, and holding work as directed.
As our ideal candidate you will have:
- An appropriate tertiary qualification in social work or welfare studies or equivalent.
- Current Driver’s Licence and Working with Children Check.
- Experience and skills in providing support and casework to families and children using a variety of intervention skills. Expertise in areas of Mental Health or Alcohol and other Drugs or Disability and or Family Violence.
- Experience in child centered family inclusive practice.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to work flexibly within tight time schedules and in accordance with variable workload demands.
- Ability to relate and communicate comfortably with people from different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
- Experience in developing facilitating and working with groups.
- Ability to provide confidential, flexible and responsive support in a variety of settings.
- An understanding of issues related to families at risk.
- A knowledge and understanding of the Child Protection system and Orange Door.
- Willingness to participate in further training and professional development.
- Demonstrated written and verbal skills and computer literacy.
