About the role
Dietitian Grade 1 or 2
Up to 38 hours per week from January 2025 until September 2026.
This can be a shared position between 2 applicants, if the successful applicant/s are not looking for full time work.
Colac Area Health is a values-based organisation providing a unique integrated health service comprising of over 500 employees, providing Acute Care, Aged Care, Community and Allied Health Services.
The Nutrition Department of Colac Area Health consists of a team of Accredited Practising Dietitians who assist in the prevention, treatment and management of nutrition related disease. Our Dietitians provide individualised assessment, education and advice that is specific to the nutritional needs of our clients across the continuum of care. Clients include (but are not limited to); inpatients, sub-acute programs, outpatient services, group education and aged care. Dietitians can recommend supplements where necessary and provide education about meal preparation.
This role will require an effective interdisciplinary team member who provides best practice Dietetic service, leadership and clinical supervision within the scope of Colac Area Health Services across Acute, Sub-Acute Care, Rehabilitation, Community and Aged Care.
What’s required?
Grade 1:
- Approved tertiary qualification, Bachelor/Master of Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent.
- Accredited Practicing Dietitian (A.P.D.) status (or provisional).
- Current Drivers licence.
- Ability to work independently, and to collaborate and work as part of a team.
- Knowledge of nutrition interventions for clients with complex conditions within a range of health care setting across the continuum of care.
- Knowledge of own skill and experience level and ability to seek information and clarification when required.
- Effective interpersonal skills (including written and verbal communication skills) with clients and colleagues.
- Effective time management skills and ability to use IT systems efficiently.
- A commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement.
- An understanding of dietetics practice within a rural context.
Grade 2:
- Approved tertiary qualification, Bachelor/Master of Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent and Accredited Practising Dietitian (A.P.D.) status.
- Current Drivers licence.
- Ability to work independently, and to collaborate and work as part of a team.
- Effective leadership and interpersonal skills (including written and verbal communication skills) with clients and colleagues.
- Effective time management skills and ability to use IT systems efficiently.
- A commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement.
- An understanding of dietetics practice within a rural context.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a complex caseload, developing specialist knowledge and experience with a range of clinical presentations across a range of settings
- Developed skills in evaluation of service delivery, research and established skills in the review of literature.
- Understanding of the business environment, the structural and financial arrangements, KPIs and relationships between these factors and service delivery.
- Experience supervising Grade 1 clinicians and/or Dietetics students.
