About the role

 

CAH PAEDIATRIC CLINIC GENERAL PRACTITIONER
Temporary Part Time Position - 2 year contract; first 12 months working 7.5hr/fortnight and second 12 months working 7.5hrs/month (4 weeks). 

Day of work is a Wednesday to align with the established multidisciplinary Paediatric Clinic.

 

Colac Area Health is a values-based organisation providing a unique integrated health service comprising of over 500 employees, providing Acute Care, Aged Care, Community and Allied Health Services.

 

We are seeking a passionate GP to join our outpatient paediatric service as part of a multidisciplinary paediatric team at Colac Area Health (CAH). The role will involve:

  • Working in a paediatric and allied health team to provide multidisciplinary general paediatric outpatient services for children up to 18 years old
  • Receiving of supervision and support by a visiting Paediatrician
  • Supervision of GP trainees in an outpatient session
  • Supported supervision of paediatric trainees in an outpatient session
  • To ensure best care for paediatric patients in the outpatient clinic
  • Participation in case conferencing and multidisciplinary care
  • Developing systems that support local GPs in future care and management of paediatric patients

 

This is an opportunity to build capacity of skills, specialist paediatric knowledge and client management to the Colac and surrounding communities, for ongoing and future support of clients in GP practices. 

 

The CAH Paediatric Clinic, works within a shared model of care framework with community GPs to provide optimal outcomes for clients and their families. 

 

What’s required? 

 

Essential:

 Medical degree, RACGP or ACRRM fellowship

  • Experience in working with children and families in a community GP practice.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with senior and junior medical staff.
  • Highly professional and effective behaviour, interpersonal and communication skills with a wide range of clients, health professionals and service providers.
  • Ability to effectively work both independently as well as with a team to deliver high quality care.
  • A fast, active work pace and capacity to handle large volumes of work.
  • Teaching and supervision capacity.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to meet changing situations.
  • Current Drivers Licence, Working with Children Check, and Police Check.
  • IT competency.

 

Desirable:

  • Further qualifications/training in the field of paediatrics
