 About the role 

As the Maternity Services Ward Clerk you will be responsible for delivering consumer‑focused administrative support across the Maternity Assessment Unit, Birth Suite, Postnatal Ward and Special Care Nursery. The role assists the multidisciplinary team by providing efficient and effective clerical support to ensure patients receive equitable access and high quality care throughout their journey. Multiple Permanent Part Time Positions available, encompassing Morning and Afternoon shifts. 

  

Key Responsibilities 

  • Deliver consumer-focused ward administration, providing prompt, accurate and equitable customer service while maintaining patient confidentiality, registration requirements and accurate demographic information
  • Support safe and efficient ward operations, maintaining accurate patient journey and discharge information, completing data entry and reporting, and contributing to audits, quality improvement and workflow initiatives
  • Work effectively within the multidisciplinary team, communicating professionally, complying with health records, information security and OHS requirements, completing mandatory training and modelling Barwon Health values and behaviours

 

 

What we’re looking for 

  • Demonstrated administrative and clerical experience with strong customer service skills in a challenging, consumer-focused environment
  • Strong communication and computer skills, with the ability to learn new systems and programs; knowledge of medical terminology and Barwon Health systems is desirable
  • Demonstrated flexibility and teamwork, with the ability to work rostered shifts across a 7-day roster and provide support across all Maternity Wards
