About the role
The Heath Wing 6 Ward Clerk plays a vital role in supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the ward by delivering high-quality, consumer-focused administrative support. Working closely with the Nurse Unit Manager, Associate Nurse Unit Manager, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary clinical teams, this role helps ensure efficient ward coordination, effective communication, and seamless patient flow. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment and is passionate about contributing to positive patient experiences and team success.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver professional and confidential administrative, reception, and ward clerk support to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the ward.
- Coordinate patient admissions, discharges, appointments, and medical records to support efficient patient flow and timely care delivery.
- Provide exceptional customer service by welcoming patients and visitors, managing enquiries, and maintaining effective communication with multidisciplinary teams.
- Utilise Barwon Health IT systems and administrative processes to maintain accurate documentation, support workflow improvements, and contribute to a safe and compliant healthcare environment.
What we’re looking for
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn specialised healthcare systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional and customer-focused approach.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing demands effectively.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, accuracy, and professionalism in a fast-paced healthcare environment
