About the role

Provide high-quality, evidence-based, flexible, and responsive speech pathology services to patients at Belmont Community Rehabilitation Centre. (BCRC) Demonstrate collaborative professional leadership within the BCRC interdisciplinary team and Barwon Health speech pathology teams.  Support the development of less experienced staff and undergraduate students through teaching, supervision, and guidance, while managing designated portfolios and quality improvement projects aligned with Barwon Health's Strategic Plan and Belmont CRC and Speech Pathology Department Business Plans.

 

Key responsibilities 

  • Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and evidence-based management of communication and swallowing disorders, delivering goal-directed care plans in partnership with consumers and carers.
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated rehabilitation services that maximise independence, monitor outcomes, and manage clinical risks effectively.
  • Provide supervision and support to junior staff and students, contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives, and practice in accordance with Speech Pathology Australia standards and Barwon Health policies.
  • Participate in clinical governance, credentialling, CPD, research and service improvement activities, ensuring safe, culturally inclusive practice and responsible use of health resources.

 

What we’re looking for 

  • Eligibility for Certified Practising Membership with Speech Pathology Australia and meets Award/Agreement classification requirements, with demonstrated independent clinical experience in neurosciences.
  • Proven independent expertise in speech pathology practice, including established competency in conducting Video Fluoroscopic Swallowing Studies (VFSS).
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships, resolve conflict, influence outcomes, and work collaboratively in inclusive, culturally safe environments.
  • Demonstrated commitment to reflective practice, ongoing professional development, and alignment with Barwon Health values.
