About the facility

Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong’s CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.

 

 

About the role

Provide high-quality, evidence-based, flexible, and responsive Social Work services across Women’s Clinics based at University Hospital Geelong and in the maternity NEST Services based at the Early Parenting Centre. NEST has three parts: birth debrief and trauma, bereavement with fetal and neonatal loss, and antenatal mental health support. The social worker would work within a multidisciplinary team of obstetricians, midwives and psychiatrists.

 

The role will support the development grade 1 staff, allied health assistants and undergraduate students through supervision, and guidance, while participating in quality improvement projects aligned with Barwon Health's Strategic Plan and Allied Health and Social Work Business Plans. Social Work clinicians work collaboratively across the lifespan, with babies, children, young people, adults and families to achieve improved health and wellbeing outcomes.

 

They work within specialist Clinics and multidisciplinary care teams with patients and families who require psychosocial assessment and management of complex psychosocial needs.
