About the role

Senior Mental Health Clinician, Adult Phone Triage within the team complete expert and timely mental health, alcohol and other drug triages to determine the most appropriate treatment and care pathways for Adults. Referrals are received in written and telephone form, with the triage process undertaken primarily by phone. This is senior clinician role is consumer focused and requires the highest standard of assistance through the provision of clinical advice, recommendations and referrals.

Senior clinicians within the Phone Triage team will demonstrate clinical leadership through mentorship and supervision of RPN3/AH2 clinicians, contributing to the ongoing development of the service and supporting their manager with day to day operations.

 

Key Responsibilities   

  • Provide senior clinical assessment and triage, including mental health, AOD, risk and psychosocial crisis assessment, with culturally responsive and family-inclusive care
  • Coordinate consumer care and clinical pathways, facilitating referrals, providing secondary consultation, supporting effective handovers and liaising with internal teams and external agencies
  • Provide clinical leadership and support, assisting with workload allocation, clinical audits, team meetings, reporting, policy development and acting in the Manager’s role during extended leave
  • Drive quality improvement and professional practice, contributing to service reviews, clinical governance, education, policy development and compliance with professional, legislative and health service standards

 

What we’re looking for 

  • Significant acute mental health and AOD experience, with advanced clinical skills in assessment and treatment within a community setting
  • Relevant professional qualifications and registration in Mental Health Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work or Clinical Psychology, with AHPRA registration where applicable
  • Current Driver Licence, with postgraduate qualifications in clinical practice and/or leadership highly regarded
