About the role
Barwon Health Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Service has a significant Lived Experience Team embedded within the Service consisting of family/ carer and consumer workers. The Senior Family Carer Consultant will work with the Senior Consumer Consultant as guided by the Lived Experience Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining the Lived Experience Network and co-producing the monthly newsletter
- Managing the administration of the Carer Support Fund at MHDAS
- Working as an integral part of the carer LEW at MHDAS.
- Providing carer perspective supervision to MHDAS peer support workers
- Assisting in MHDAS educational activities designed to promote greater understanding of lived experience work, in particular peer support work, at the service
What we’re looking for
- Personal lived experience supporting or caring for a loved one who has accessed tertiary mental health services and the ability to use that experience safely and purposefully in supporting the carer LEW
- Learned lived expertise through a minimum of 4 years in a designated carer LEW role (including senior roles)
- Commitment to reflective practice, quality improvement, teamwork, and recognising risk, boundaries and escalation pathways
