  • Senior clinical psychology role in a growing public mental health therapy service
  • Lead supervision of Grade 2 psychologists and students in an interprofessional team
  • Shape new programs and pathways to improve access to evidence-based therapy

About the role

Mental Health Therapy Services (MHTS) at Barwon Health provide a range of psychotherapy, peer support and allied health services across our local and area Mental Health and Wellbeing Services (MHWS). We are a growing service committed to improving access to evidence-based therapy for people with moderate to severe mental illness, delivered by a collaborative interprofessional team.

As Senior Clinical Psychologist, you will provide comprehensive assessment and evidence-based psychological treatment for consumers across inpatient and community settings, developing formulations and therapy plans within a stepped care model. As part of the MHTS senior team, you will contribute to clinical decision making, the development of service pathways and new programs, and incident management. You will also provide clinical supervision to Grade 2 psychologists and psychology students, and play a key role in building a culture of reflective, interprofessional practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive mental health assessment, formulation and evidence-based psychological treatment for adults with moderate to severe mental illness, including intensive treatment of personality disorders and trauma processing, via face-to-face, telehealth and outreach.
  • Provide clinical supervision and consultation to Grade 2 psychologists, students and early career staff, and lead peer review processes that strengthen reflective and interprofessional practice.
  • Contribute to the development of new programs, models of care and service pathways that improve access to MHTS, working collaboratively with area and local MHWS, AOD services, consumers, families and carers.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for an experienced clinical psychologist with high-level therapeutic skills and a passion for delivering recovery-focused, family-centred and culturally safe care in a public mental health setting. You will bring strong leadership within an interprofessional team and thrive on collaboration and flexibility in a complex, growing service.

  • Current AHPRA registration with clinical psychology endorsement and eligibility for supervisor status, with significant experience delivering empirically supported assessment and treatment for adults with mental illness.
  • High-level skills in one or more therapeutic approaches such as CBT, ACT, DBT, MBT, CPT or EMDR.
