    About the role

    As a Senior Mental Health Clinician (AOD) within the Emergency Mental Health team, you will provide specialist assessment, brief intervention and care coordination for consumers presenting with acute mental health and substance use concerns. Working within a 24/7 multidisciplinary service, you will support timely, safe and effective access to Mental Health, Drugs and Alcohol Services (MHDAS) across the Emergency Department and community settings, including PACER responses.

    In this senior role, you will deliver clinical leadership and workflow coordination in collaboration with the Team Manager and Consultant Psychiatrist, while working closely with the AOD Consultation Liaison team and broader service network. You will also contribute to service improvement initiatives, strengthen partnerships with internal and external providers, and provide professional supervision and mentoring.

    This is a fast-paced, high-impact role offering the opportunity to lead clinical practice, influence service delivery and improve outcomes for consumers in crisis.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    As a senior clinician, you will:

    • Provide expert AOD assessment, brief intervention and risk management in acute and crisis settings
    • Deliver clinical leadership and support workflow coordination, in partnership with the Team Manager and Consultant Psychiatrist
    • Work collaboratively with the AOD Consultation Liaison team and broader MHDAS services
    • Lead and contribute to service improvement initiatives across EMH, AIS and the wider service system
    • Strengthen partnerships with internal teams and external service providers, enhancing care continuity
    • Provide discipline-specific supervision, mentoring, and student support

    We are looking for a senior mental health clinician with demonstrated expertise in AOD and acute mental health care, who can provide clinical leadership, support team workflow, and contribute to service improvement. Strong communication and partnership skills are essential.
