About Cherry Creek Primary Health Service:

Barwon Health is partnered with the Department of Justice and Community Safety to provide the health care service at the Cherry Creek Youth Justice Centre. Cherry Creek is a 140 bed Youth Justice Facility to the west of Werribee in the vicinity of Cherry Creek that accommodates males between 15-17 years of age, both sentenced and on remand.

The services delivered include emergency response (with support from the Barwon Health Virtual ED), primary care beds, integrated mental health, drug and alcohol services, allied health, general practice and specialist medical care as required. There is 24/7 nursing coverage on-site as well as a 7-days a week primary care clinic. Diagnostic (pathology and imaging) and pharmacy is also be available on site.

The health care is integrated in the operations of the Centre and is primarily operating from a state of the art purpose built health facility.

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Psychiatric Nurse (Grade 4) to join the Cherry Creek Youth Justice (CCYJ) health team. In this role, you will provide contemporary, recovery-oriented, and culturally sensitive mental health and alcohol and other drug (AOD) care to young people at the Cherry Creek precinct. You will conduct assessments, deliver brief interventions and therapeutic approaches, and support ongoing care that promotes wellbeing, self-awareness, and engagement. You will also facilitate appropriate referrals and linkages, support care continuity upon release, and contribute to the mental health capacity building of CCYJ staff.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will have professional accountability to the RPN5 Cherry Creek, with operational guidance from the Cherry Creek Health Service Manager, ensuring your work is integrated, effective, and centred on the needs of young people.
