About Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Services (MHDAS)
Barwon Health's Mental Health Drugs and Alcohol Services (MHDAS) provides integrated and recovery orientated mental health and drug and alcohol assessment, treatment, harm reduction and community and family support to people of all ages within the Barwon Region currently experiencing, or at risk of experiencing mental health and/or drug and alcohol issues.
The Swanston Centre is a 32-bed acute psychiatric admission unit providing Recovery Orientated care delivery for people aged 18 and over, experiencing the effects of major mental illness/distress.
About the facility
Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong’s CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.
About the role
Your primary responsibility is to provide high quality, best practice direct delivery of psychiatric treatment and care to consumers (50+) as part of a multidisciplinary team which operates within a holistic recovery-based model.
We are seeking registered psychiatric nurses with:

Experience in the complexities of working in Acute Mental Health

A genuine interest in delivering recovery oriented, consumer centred delivery of care.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills

The ability to function as a member of the multidisciplinary team
