About the facility 

Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong’s CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.

 

About the Barwon Early Parenting Centre

Recently opened the Barwon Early Parenting Centre will provide specialist support and deliver flexible, targeted services for families with children 0-4 years old.

The centre aims to enhance the parent-child relationship and support parents with strategies for achieving their parenting goals. These goals are often in areas such as sleep and settling, child behaviours, and parent and child health and wellbeing

These goals are achieved through structured programs that vary from residential, day stay and in-home support. Programs include:

  • psychosocial, physical and developmental assessments
  • parenting education
  • counselling
  • skills development
  • play-based activities
  • modelling effective behaviours

 

The Barwon Early Parenting Centre is located within the McKellar Centre precinct on Ballarat Road in North Geelong.

About the role

The role of the Registered Nurse or Midwife is to plan, implement, evaluate and maintain a high standard care in order to achieve desired outcomes, at the same time:

  • Recognising the needs and acknowledging the dignity, culture and values of all consumers and their families/significant other
  • Empowering all consumers and their families within a service that embraces attachment and parenting growth through learning

The Registered Nurse or Midwife ensure effective and efficient utilisation of resources in the provision and delivery of high quality parenting service to families and deliver early parenting programs that meet staff, client and stakeholders objectives. The position supports the smooth operation of Early Parenting Centre services through provision of high quality care delivery.
