About the role
As a Registered Nurse in BAX6 Oncology and Haematology Unit, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centred care to individuals with complex and acute cancer-related conditions. Working within a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will care for patients across haematology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, clinical trials, and palliative care pathways.
The unit is a 28-bed purpose-built oncology ward providing specialised care for patients from Geelong and the South West region. You will work in a dynamic environment supported by strong education pathways, including links with Melbourne University and opportunities for post-graduate study and clinical rotations across specialist cancer services.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver safe, evidence-based, patient-centred nursing care in accordance with professional and organisational standards
- Monitor, assess, and respond to the complex needs of acute oncology and haematology patients
- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated and high-quality care planning and delivery
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation using Barwon Health systems
- Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and continuous professional development activities
- Support patients and families through clear communication, education, and compassionate care
What we’re looking for
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
- Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity, complex clinical environment
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and ongoing professional development
- Ability to work collaboratively within a supportive and dynamic team environment
- Understanding of or willingness to develop skills in oncology/haematology nursing care
