About the role
Join our expanding Cardiac Services team at Barwon Health. We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses who are passionate about delivering high-quality cardiac care and are interested in working in the Coronary Care Unit (CCU), Cardiothoracic Unit, or across both specialty areas.
Whether your experience is in critical care, coronary care, cardiothoracic nursing or a combination of these specialties, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to a collaborative multidisciplinary team delivering exceptional care to patients with a wide range of cardiac conditions.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to cardiac patients, including pre and post procedure care
- Monitor patients with acute an chronic cardiovascular conditions
- Interpret ECGs and monitor vital signs, responding promptly to changes
- Educate patients and families on heart health, treatment plans and lifestyle modifications
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Collaborate effectively with medical staff and allied health professionals
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience in critical care or cardiothoracic nursing within an acute/critical care setting
- A postgraduate certificate in critical care or cardiac nursing
- Flexibility to adapt to rotating rosters to meet unit demands
- Exceptional communication skills, adept time management, and a commitment to evidence-based holistic patient care tailored to cardiac specialty services
Bellarine Centre 5 (BC5) is a 34-bed combined Cardiac service that consists of critical care, cardiothoracic and cardiology beds.
Barwon Health’s Cardiac Services covers the complete range of diagnostic and interventional Cardiology, including a 24-hour emergency STEMI Service. The Cardiothoracic Unit performs a wide range of bypass graft, valve repair/replacement and Bental’s, complex thoracic surgery including pneumonectomies, lobectomies and wedge resections.
