About the role
Join Barwon Health’s Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory, Victoria’s largest regional tertiary cardiac service, providing a broad range of diagnostic and interventional cardiology procedures to patients across Geelong and South West Victoria.
 
As a Registered Nurse, you will provide high-quality, patient-centred nursing care across the procedural journey, from pre-procedure preparation through to post-procedure recovery. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), permanent pacemaker implantation, electrophysiology procedures, structural heart interventions and emergency cardiac procedures.
 
 
Key responsibilities
  • Provide safe, quality nursing care to patients undergoing cardiac procedures, including pre-procedure assessment, preparation and post-procedure recovery
  • Respond effectively to emergency and acute clinical situations within the Cath Lab environment
  • Circulate and/or scrub for cardiac catheterisation procedures
  • Work collaboratively with cardiologists, cardiac technologists, radiographers and nursing colleagues to deliver safe, patient-centred care
  • Maintain high standards of patient safety, infection prevention and clinical documentation
  • Participate in the on-call service (where applicable and depending on experience and clinical competence)
 
What we’re looking for
  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration and recent experience in an acute cardiac, critical care, emergency or Cath Lab setting
  • Strong clinical assessment, patient monitoring and clinical decision-making skills, with the ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and organisational skills, with a strong commitment to patient-centred care
  • Previous Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory experience is desirable, as is a postgraduate qualification in a critical care area
  • Experience with coronary angiography, PCI, device implantation, electrophysiology procedures or participation in an on-call roster will be highly regarded
