Permanent Full Time Radiographer/Sonographer Medical Imaging Technologist – Colac Site Supervisor (Grade 4), Surgical and Critical Care

 

  • We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Colac Area Health Barwon Medical Imaging team as the Grade 4 Site Supervisor, permanent full time.  This position is open to Medical Imaging Technologists with either a Radiography and/or Sonography qualification. 
  • The Grade 4 Barwon Medical Imaging Colac Area Health Site Supervisor Radiographer/Sonographer MIT provides clinical leadership and manages and co-ordinates the 24/7 Colac Area Health medical imaging service.
  • This position is based at Barwon Medical Imaging, Colac Area Health. The successful applicant may be required to work across any Barwon Medical Imaging sites at the discretion of the Chief Radiographer or Chief Sonographer.

About the facility 

Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong’s CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Colac and Torquay.

Colac Area Health is an integrated health service encompassing Aged Care, Hospital Care, Community Care, Urgent Care facilities and Medical Imaging.

 

About the role

As the Grade 4 Colac Supervisor you'll be responsible for the provision and coordination of the medical imaging service at Colac, in liaison with the Chief Radiographer and Chief Sonographer. 

Duties of the Grade 4 Colac Supervisor include, but are not limited to:

  • Clinical duties performing medical imaging examinations
  • Produce high quality medical images using valid request forms following the principles of ALARA.
  • Provide clinical leadership and professional supervision to other medical imaging staff and students including clinical supervision and mentorship
  • Escalating and logging faults or issues with Colac Area Health medical imaging equipment with vendors.
  • Communicating any operational issues with the Operations Manager, Chief Radiographer/Sonographer and liaising with Colac Area Health stakeholders
  • Organising equipment preventative maintenance
  • Ordering and stocktake of consumables
  • Administrative duties such as co-ordinating the medical imaging examination schedules
  • Correct identification of patients using 4 step model consisting of: (i) verification of patient information, (ii) matching information against request form, (iii) timeout, (iv) post procedure confirmation of an acceptable image including correct positioning and presentation (side markers, orientation).
  • Utilise specialist knowledge/experience in any of the specialist modalities or areas of additional responsibilities such as CT, digital subtraction radiography (DSA), mammography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), picture archiving and communication systems (PACS), radiology information system (RIS) or quality assurance activities
  • Provide high quality safe care to consumers and implement the Barwon Health values in daily duties.
