About the role
The Grade 2 Radiographer/MIT supports the Grade 3 and Grade 4 Radiographer/MIT in the management of the CT, MRI, PACS, or Digital Subtraction Angiography medical imaging service 24/7 across all Barwon Medical Imaging sites.
Key responsibilities
- Independently operate all diagnostic imaging equipment including information systems (RIS/PACS/Firstnet,BOSS)
- Participate in 24/7 ‘ABC roster’ which includes being available for reasonable overtime and out of hours recall and shift duty (including night shift). Must be available to work Fridays.
- Utilise specialist knowledge/experience in their specialist modality for example CT, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), digital subtraction radiography (DSA), picture archiving and communication systems (PACS), radiology information system (RIS) or quality assurance activities
- For CT this includes advanced vascular imaging post processing, complex CT scanning including cardiac CT and ability to independently manage busy worklists
- For MRI this includes all post processing functions and the competent operation of both 1.5T and 3.0T MRI systems as well as completion of the MRI part 1 accreditation or equivalent
- For Angiography this includes all complex interventional procedures such as thrombolysis, embolisations, clot retrieval etc. CT interventional procedures such as microwave ablation, biopsy and drainages. Experience working independently in on call scenarios with the broader interventional team.
- For PACS this includes high levels of experience in RIS/PACS and other IT related systems and their integrations within the medical imaging department
- Display leadership by example and experience
- Assist with on-going practical supervision and training of students, and Grade 1 Radiographers
What we’re looking for
- Registration with AHPRA as a Medical Radiation Practitioner, a valid Victorian Radiation Use Licence, and an ASMIRT-recognised tertiary qualification.
- Advanced specialist expertise in at least one modality (CT, MRI, DSA/Angiography, or PACS), including complex procedures, post-processing, and independent workflow management.
- Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality medical imaging safely, adhering to ALARA principles across a broad range of examinations (including trauma and paediatrics).
- Strong capability to work autonomously, effectively triaging imaging requests while maintaining efficient patient throughput.
