About the role
Barwon Health’s Cancer Services is a comprehensive, integrated service delivering world-class cancer care to adults across Geelong and South West Victoria. Based at the Andrew Love Cancer Centre (ALCC), this locum opportunity offers the chance to work in a well-established, multidisciplinary environment with state-of-the-art facilities and a strong focus on patient-centred care.
The radiotherapy service is one of four public providers in Victoria and is equipped with Varian planning software, three TrueBeam linear accelerators, a dedicated planning CT, and a superficial radiotherapy unit. The service collaborates closely with other public radiotherapy centres to deliver high-quality, personalised treatment.
As a Locum Radiation Oncologist, you will provide safe, high-quality clinical care while contributing to a culture of clinical excellence aligned with Barwon Health’s values. You will join a dynamic team of specialists and trainees, with opportunities to develop site-specific expertise, contribute to innovation in treatment techniques, and support education and mentorship. Strong links with Deakin University and an active clinical trials unit provide opportunities for research and academic involvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality inpatient and outpatient radiation oncology care, including outreach clinics
- Lead and support a patient-centred approach, enabling shared decision-making
- Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and teaching to trainees and junior staff
- Participate in on-call and contribute to equitable rostering and service coverage
- Drive quality improvement through clinical audits, guideline development, and risk management
- Contribute to multidisciplinary collaboration and maintain strong professional relationships
- Engage in research and clinical trials to support innovation in patient care
- Actively participate in education and ongoing professional development
What we’re looking for
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) and eligibility for registration in Victoria
- Strong clinical experience in radiation oncology, including SRS and SBRT expertise
- Proven leadership skills with a commitment to supervision, teaching, and team collaboration
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centred approach
- Demonstrated commitment to clinical governance, quality improvement, and ongoing professional development
