About Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Services (MHDAS)
MHDAS provides integrated and recovery oriented mental health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment and community support to people of all ages within the Barwon region experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mental health and drug & alcohol issues, and their families.
Our service is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive. We are fortunate to enjoy terrific internal relationships and have developed excellent partnerships with the local community that provide for seamless integrated care for our clients.
MHDAS is entering a new phase of co-design of our service system with people who access our services and our wider community. This will build on our nationally recognized unique cultural approach to the challenges of recovery-oriented service delivery to redesign our service system.
About the facility
Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong’s CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.
About you
- Demonstrated experience in a clinical quality, safety and improvement role in a public health care setting
- Understanding of the application of quality principles and accreditation processes in Victoria's mental health services
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, and an ability to apply these skills to a variety of stakeholders
- The ability to work autonomously and to strict deadlines as well as contributing effectively as a team member within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Qualifications in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or Occupational Therapy, or Social Work or Clinical Psychology
- Completion of or currently progressing towards a Master’s level qualification in quality improvement, leadership or health administration
- Minimum of 7 years employment in mental health
About the role
- As the successful applicant, you will hold primary responsibilities for;
- Supporting MHDAS Executive implementation of our clinical quality and safety systems, including accreditation, clinical risk assessment and monitoring
- Oversighting MHDAS managers timely responses to RiskMans, audits and other montoring of quality, safety and improvement related outcomes
- Provision of education to workforces focussed on supporting their ongoing engagement with MHDAS clinical quality, safety and improvement initiatives
- Promote the quality improvement program and foster a culture of clinical quality and safety with emphasis on improving service expereinces and outcomes
- Supporting excellence in the achievement and maintenance of mental health service provision
- Establish and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, both within and external to MHDAS
