About the role
The Clinical/Counselling/Health Psychologist (Grade 2/3) is responsible for providing psychological assessment and patient-centred, evidence-based interventions within the Early Parenting Centre (EPC) at Barwon Health, supporting infants, children, and families and facilitating linkage to community supports and services across the Barwon region. The role provides secondary consultation to the multidisciplinary team and external stakeholders involved in family care, focusing on parenting, attachment, and family functioning to enhance the effectiveness of interventions delivered. The Grade 3 position also includes advanced clinical leadership responsibilities, including supervision of Grade 2 Psychologists and postgraduate psychology students, as well as contribution to service development, complex case formulation, and clinical excellence within the EPC.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver evidence-based psychological assessment, intervention, risk assessment and care planning for clients and families accessing the Early Parenting Centre (EPC).
- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team, maintaining high-quality clinical documentation, communication and culturally safe practice.
- Actively participate in professional development, quality improvement, supervision, research and organisational learning activities.
- Lead and contribute to clinical service development, supervision, policy implementation, multidisciplinary collaboration and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promote excellence in professional practice through leadership in research, education, reflective practice, risk management and workforce development.
What we’re looking for
- Masters or Doctoral qualification in Clinical, Health or Counselling Psychology, with current AHPRA registration, Area of Practice Endorsement, and PBA Approved Supervisor status for Grade 3
- Experience working with families with children 0–4 years and strong knowledge of infant mental health and attachment theory
- Demonstrated advanced clinical experience and independent practice skills, including leadership, supervision and contribution to the professional development of others.
- Proven ability to lead evidence-based psychological assessment and intervention for complex clinical presentations within multidisciplinary environments.
- Highly developed communication, stakeholder engagement and service development skills, with commitment to culturally safe practice, quality improvement and professional excellence.
