About the role
Grade 1 Physiotherapists work with patients in a wide variety of rotations across the acute, subacute and community settings. Rotations are for four months and provide the clinician with the opportunity to improve their experience and skills in a broad range of clinical areas.
We have supportive supervision structures in place with experienced senior clinicians, and an extensive professional development program to ensure a rich and rewarding learning environment. You will be responsible for providing high quality physiotherapy care from assessment through to discharge for a caseload of patients within a multidisciplinary team setting.
The Barwon Health Physiotherapy Department provides services to the Geelong/Barwon Region in a range of clinical settings. We are a large department with a focus on achieving optimal patient outcomes through positive teamwork, staff development and best practice. The role will be located across the University Hospital Geelong, the McKellar Rehabilitation Centre in North Geelong, Community and subacute At Home Rehab services.

Key responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based clinical care: Manage caseloads, contribute to multidisciplinary assessment and care planning, monitor outcomes, and maintain accurate, timely documentation in line with policies and standards.
- Demonstrate leadership and professional conduct: Act in line with organisational values, contribute to committees and service initiatives, and support policy, procedure, and service development.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, share information, respect diversity, and adapt communication to support colleagues and consumers.
- Commit to continuous improvement and professional development: Engage in supervision, training, research, and quality improvement activities while maintaining clinical expertise and reflective practice.
- Uphold ethical, legal, and professional standards: Maintain registration and credentialing, follow relevant legislation and codes of conduct, use resources responsibly, and deliver culturally safe, inclusive care.
What we are looking for
- Registration & experience: Current AHPRA registration as a Physiotherapist and clinical experience aligned with Award/Agreement requirements.
- Clinical capability: Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and experience to effectively practice within the designated clinical area.
- Communication & teamwork: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Professional development & adaptability: Commitment to ongoing learning, reflective practice, and application of evidence into clinical care, including competence in IT systems.
- Work ethic & values alignment: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a culturally safe manner, with a demonstrated commitment to organisational values.
