About the role
Join Barwon Health's Pharmacy Department as an Aseptic Services Pharmacy Technician Coordinator and play an important role in supporting the safe and efficient supply of medications to patients. Based at University Hospital Geelong, this temporary position may also require you to work across Barwon Health's three campuses.
Working closely with aseptic, dispensary and ward pharmacists, you'll support the delivery of high-quality pharmacy services to both inpatients and outpatients. This is an excellent opportunity to expand your skills within a collaborative team while contributing to exceptional patient care.
Key responsibilities
- Manage daily and weekly rostering, staffing levels, skill mix and workflow, responding to unexpected leave and workload demands while supporting efficient day-to-day service delivery
- Monitor technician competencies and validation, aseptic cleaning processes, medicine and consumable stock, and ensure compliance with Barwon Health policies, regulatory requirements, OHS obligations and aseptic service standards
- Lead, mentor and support aseptic pharmacy technicians, coordinate orientation and competency programs, facilitate team meetings and contribute to performance development and succession planning
- Monitor workflow and service quality, identify and implement improvement initiatives, maintain procedures and SOPs, support PBS claims and prescription archiving, and contribute to projects, research and departmental planning
What we're looking for
- Completion of Certificate IV in Health (Hospital Pharmacy Technician) course or equivalent for appointment to position of Pharmacy Technician Grade 4
- Demonstrated experience in aseptic manufacturing services within a hospital or equivalent regulated environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across multidisciplinary teams
- Demonstrated organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work with a high degree of responsibility
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated initiative
