About Cherry Creek Primary Health Service
Barwon Health is partnering with the Department of Justice and Community Safety to provide the health care service at the new Cherry Creek Youth Justice Centre. Cherry Creek is a 140 bed Youth Justice Facility to the west of Werribee in the vicinity of Cherry Creek that accommodates males between 15-17 years of age, both sentenced and on remand.
The services delivered will include emergency response (with support from the Barwon Health Virtual ED), primary care beds, integrated mental health, drug and alcohol services, allied health, general practice and specialist medical care as required. There will be 24/7 nursing coverage on-site as well as a 7-days a week primary care clinic. Diagnostic (pathology and imaging) and pharmacy will also be available on site.
The health care will be integrated in the operations of the Centre and will primarily operate from a state of the art purpose built health facility.
The team will deliver best practice culture, processes and operations. This is how we will ensure Cherry Creek will enhance the outcomes we achieve for the young people in our care and the community.
About the role
- Lead the Youth Justice Pharmacy team
- Develop procedures and SOPs for the pharmacy service
- Provide a pharmacy service across campuses including the Cherry Creek Youth Justice Centre and mental health facilities within Barwon Health. Roles include clinical review, participation in clinical case conferences, liaising with clinical teams, liaison with community pharmacy service providers, resolving medication related issues, providing advice and direction on medication supply, completing the Medication Reconciliation Process, providing medicines information, counselling patients and assisting the discharge process.
- Ensure appropriate drug utilization through implementation of Barwon Health policy and formulary guidelines/restrictions, and through liaison with medical and nursing staff.
- Assist team members in delivering a pharmacy service
- Further develop the service specialisation to ensure efficiency and medication safety
- Ensure all work is complete accurately on time and in accordance with Barwon Health policies and procedures.

About you
You are an enthusiastic hospital pharmacist with experience in leadership, education and governance. You demonstrate strong communication skills, can identify improvement opportunities and lead the development of pharmacy services within a specialty area.
