About the role

As an ICU Patient Services Assistant you will play a vital role in ensuring the effective provision of patient care in collaboration with nursing staff. Your responsibilities will include supporting patient welfare, comfort, hygiene, and transport, as well as cleaning and setting up ICU equipment to help maintain quality patient outcomes.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness across ward, patient and administrative areas, including bathrooms, offices, cafeterias, stairs and lifts.

  • Perform routine cleaning duties including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, floor buffing, rubbish removal and infection control cleaning.

  • Manage patient laundry and linen processes, including washing, drying, linen removal and terminal/discharge bed re-making.

  • Support patient care by assisting with safe patient lifting, repositioning, transportation and basic grooming tasks when required.

  • Transport patients, equipment, specimens, records and other items between wards, departments and theatres.

  • Assist with ward support tasks such as restocking consumables, checking oxygen cylinders, maintaining equipment, delivering water and flowers, and general messaging.

  • Contribute to hospital safety by responding to emergency codes, assisting the emergency response team and maintaining accurate documentation and information security standards.

 

What we’re looking for

  • Certificate III in Health Services Assistance is essential.
  • Ability to work independently and handle tasks related to the general service of the ICU and the equipment used within it.
