About the facility 

Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong’s CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.

 

About the role

We are seeking applications from Grade 2 and experienced grade 1 occupational therapists to join our community of over 150 occupational therapists to work across the continuum of care in clinical specialties suited to their clinical experience.

  •   Settings include acute, inpatient rehabilitation, community rehabilitation, community health, child and family health and mental health settings in the clinical specialties of orthopaedics, surgery, medicine, neuro rehabilitation, geriatric evaluative management (GEM), trauma, paediatrics & mental health. 
  •   Each grade 1 is supported in one of our 12 rotations by a dedicated experienced Grade 2 for supervision, joint sessions and training to build our grade 1’s foundational knowledge, skills and confidence.
  •   Our Grade 2 occupational therapists lead their work area and are well supported by accessible expert clinical, student educator, education & training, and research senior clinicians for supervision, joint sessions, specialty clinical training, student supervision training and allied health leadership training.
  •   Inclusion in a weekend and public holiday roster in bed based services with additional financial rewards with pay and leave for weekend work

About you

  • A clear and respectful communicator and consumer advocate
  • Experienced in the delivery of collaborative team based healthcare
  • Passionate commitment to evidence based practice, consumer focussed care and accountable for providing a high quality service
  • Excellent leadership skills to advocate for consumers, and support junior staff.
  • Ability to critically analyse own performance and acknowledge responsibility for your own learning
  • A flexible & optimistic ‘can do’ approach with responsive organizational skills to prepare for the challenges that public healthcare is facing both now and in the years to come.
