About the role

Join Barwon Health's Women's Services team and play a key role in delivering exceptional care for women and families across the region. As a Senior Medical Specialist, you will provide specialist Obstetric and Gynaecological care within a busy regional health service, working alongside a highly skilled multidisciplinary team committed to excellence in patient care, education, research and service improvement.  

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a diverse clinical practice spanning inpatient, outpatient and consultative services while supporting the education and development of junior medical staff and trainees. You will play an important role in clinical governance, quality improvement and the ongoing development of contemporary models of care that improve outcomes for women and their families.  

We are seeking a collaborative and patient-focused clinician with a commitment to evidence-based practice, teaching and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide high-quality specialist Obstetric and Gynaecological care across inpatient, outpatient and consultative settings, including consultant on-call services
  • Provide clinical leadership, supervision and education to junior medical staff, registrars and trainees while fostering a collaborative team culture
  • Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement, research and service development to enhance patient safety, outcomes and contemporary models of care
  • Deliver person-centred, culturally safe and inclusive care, ensuring effective communication, documentation, confidentiality and compliance with professional and organisational standards 

 

What we’re looking for 

  • Medical degree with current AHPRA specialist registration and FRANZCOG, with demonstrated specialist experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
  • Demonstrated commitment to high-quality, patient-centred care, with strong clinical, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, including supervising, mentoring and educating junior medical staff
  • Demonstrated commitment to clinical governance, quality improvement and continuous improvement, with participation in consultant on-call services
