About the role

Join Barwon Health as a Nurse Practitioner Emergency Services and experience a rewarding career providing best practice, high-quality patient-centered care. As a registered Nurse Practitioner, you'll utilise your advanced skills, education, and autonomy to deliver evidence-based care in emergency and community settings. With rotations between the Emergency Departments and Urgent Care Centre, you'll have diverse clinical responsibilities, including assessment, management, diagnostics, prescribing, and direct referrals. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, grounded in nursing values, and make a difference in patients' lives through innovative and flexible healthcare delivery.

  • A document outlining your current or previous scope of practice as a Nurse Practitioner 

 

Please ensure that you attach any evidence outlining the framework and/or scope of practice for previous Endorsed Nurse Practitioners roles you have fulfilled. 

 

Key responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and supervision to nursing staff, ensuring high-quality, coordinated, patient-centred care within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Deliver advanced clinical decision-making, evidence-based practice, and support education, mentoring, and professional development of staff and students.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement, risk management, and compliance with NMBA standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure safe, effective, and well-documented patient care across the continuum, including discharge planning, patient education, and continuity of care.

 

What we are looking for:

  • Authorised to practice as a Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) together with demonstrated ability to meet the ANMC competencies for the Registered Nurse
  • Has successfully completed a Nursing and Midwifery Board Australia (NMBA) approved nurse practitioner program of study at Master’s level or equivalent as determined by the NMBA
  • Demonstrated advanced competency and evidence of advanced nursing practice and knowledge of Clinical Specialty (Emergency and/or Urgent Care).
  • Ability to work  50 % of shifts across both Barwon Health sites -  Emergency Departments and Barwon Health North Urgent care centre and adapt to scope of practice based on area of work
