About the facility

Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong’s CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.

 

The Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT Department at the University Hospital Geelong undertakes a diverse range of procedures and studies within a public and private health setting. 
The PET/CT facility is a custom built department that is serviced by a Siemens mCT system. 
Our Nuclear Medicine facility comprises of a GE Discovery 670 and a GE 870 DR. Our technologist staff undertake diagnostic CT.
The Department has a fully equipped Radiopharmacy Laboratory which undertakes reconstitution of radiopharmaceuticals, dispensing of pt doses and all relevant quality control mechanisms. Further studies such as blood labels and other cold laboratory duties are also undertaken.
Our laboratory in PET/CT undertakes Gallium PSMA and DOTA manufacture within a Hot Cell.
The Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT Department is located within the Medical Imaging Department at Barwon Health and as such we enjoy cohesive work environments with our Radiography colleagues.

 

About the role

The Nuclear Medicine Technologists at Barwon Health are rostered across PET, Nuclear Medicine and Radiopharmacy duties. All of our Technologists undertake diagnostic CT across both Nuclear Medicine and PET.
Being a Regional Hospital with a large geographical catchment area our Department undertakes a wide variety of studies across both modalities.

 

Grade 1

The Grade 1 Nuclear Medicine Technologist/Scientist supports the Grades 2, 3 and 4 Nuclear Medicine Technologists/Scientists in the management of the Nuclear Medicine, Radiopharmacy and PET services 24/7

 

Grade 2

The Grade 2 Nuclear Medicine Technologist supports the Grades 1, 3 and 4 Nuclear Medicine Technologists in the management of the Nuclear Medicine, Radiopharmacy and PET Service 24/7.
