About the role

  • Train to perform specialised and complex clinical neurophysiology procedures including but not limited standard electroencephalography, sleep deprived, prolonged and long-term ambulatory EEG monitoring.
  • Demonstrate a base level of knowledge, expertise and skills in neurological investigations and/or the ability to rapidly acquire skills in use of neurophysiology technology.
  • Independently perform high quality routine and advanced/complex neurophysiology investigations for patients in varied clinical settings. Proactively develop your own knowledge and expertise required to perform the functions of the role.
  • Learn and assist with Nerve-Conduction clinics (NCS) & support Neurologist performing Electromyography (EMG). 

 

 

Key responsibilities 

  • Undertake Grade 1 Neurophysiology duties including being available for on call roster once fully trained. 
  • Operate within the scope of practice determined by the requirements of this role, professional qualifications, experience, and credentialing requirements.
  • Independently operate diagnostic equipment such as EEG, NCS/EMG/VER machines
  • Practice in accordance with the relevant health care or industry standards including NSSA and MSAV.
  • Produce high quality neurophysiology data using valid request forms.

 

What we’re looking for 

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Applied Science, preferably with physiology, psychophysiology, or biophysics. (Nearing completion of course/New graduates more than welcome)
  • Able to work with patients, explain testing procedures and keep patient calm during the tests.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong awareness in both medical and technical fields with ability to problem solve.
