About the role
We are looking for an experienced Neurologist to join our visiting medical staff at Barwon Health on a temporary sessional basis. You will work with the Neurology team to ensure simple access and admission procedures for patients requiring inpatient and outpatient care.
Unit ward service comprises of a daily ward round, unit meetings and outpatient clinic attendance. You will lead, support and educate junior doctors and other multidisciplinary team members to ensure excellent patient care and services are provided in an effective and timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

Provide expert consultant-led neurology care across inpatient and outpatient settings, including direct inpatient management, internal referrals, and participation in the consultant on-call roster.

Lead high-quality, patient-centred, evidence-based care in accordance with Australian National Standards, DHHS requirements, and Barwon Health policies.

Partner with the Emergency Department and multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely access to care, efficient patient flow, and safe, effective discharge planning.

Provide senior clinical leadership, supervision, and education for junior medical staff and advanced trainees, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.

Contribute to clinical governance and service improvement through M&M meetings, audits, documentation standards, and effective management of complaints and grievances.

Support and lead research, quality improvement, and innovation activities, including conference participation and scholarly publications.

Uphold organisational leadership responsibilities, including information governance, occupational health and safety, professional development, and use of clinical support time to advance the service
What we’re looking for
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent
- Physician (FRACP or equivalent) with registration by Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Member of Australian and New Zealand Association of Neurologists (ANZAN)
- Accredited first year or above consultant
