About the role

The Registered Midwife, Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) provides continuity of woman-centred, evidence-based midwifery care across the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods. Working within a defined caseload, you will build trusting relationships with women and their families, supporting informed decision-making and positive birth experiences. The role delivers continuity of care across hospital and community settings, including homebirth services in line with clinical governance frameworks, while collaborating closely with the multidisciplinary maternity team to ensure safe, high-quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive midwifery care within the MGP model: antenatal, labour, birth, and early postnatal care in hospital and community/home settings.
  • Work collaboratively with your ‘buddy’ midwife and wider multidisciplinary team in Birth Suite, Pregnancy Care Clinics, Maternity Assessment Unit, Postnatal Ward, and Postnatal Care in the Home.
  • Participate in homebirth care for women meeting clinical eligibility criteria, under the MGP homebirth program
  • Support student midwives and new staff as a clinical mentor or preceptor.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, audits, and service redesign activities.

What we’re looking for

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Midwife with demonstrated ability to practise across the full scope of midwifery.
  • Commitment to continuity of care philosophy, shared decision-making and woman-centred practice.
  • Strong clinical judgement with the ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Current FSEP Level 3 (within 12 months), recent obstetric emergency training, and compliance with mandatory requirements (WWCC, police check, driver’s licence, professional membership and ongoing CPD).
