About the role
As a Medical Informatics Lead you will play a key role in preparing Barwon Health for enterprise EMR readiness, working closely with clinicians, informatics, and technical teams. You will lead medical stakeholder engagement, focusing on clinical workflows, requirements definition, and future-state design. You will provide clinical leadership in workflow validation, testing readiness, and support training and change initiatives. The role suits a motivated medical practitioner with strong communication skills, capable of translating clinical needs into practical digital solutions that enhance patient care and safety.
Key responsibilities
- Lead medical engagement for EMR readiness activities by establishing effective consultation mechanisms, facilitating workflow and requirements workshops, and ensuring medical perspectives are consolidated, prioritised and translated into readiness and design deliverables.
- Escalates Clinical workflow risk and decisions through appropriate governance pathways.
- Lead engagement with clinical and operational stakeholders to document current-state workflows, define future-state needs, and translate agreed priorities into clear digital requirements.
- Lead the design and optimisation of clinical information systems at Barwon Health that align strategically to EMR readiness.
- Participate in Barwon Health and SWARH governance forums to ensure alignment with clinical safety standards, regulatory requirements, and digital governance frameworks.
What we’re looking for
- Qualified medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and current unrestricted AHPRA General Registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Demonstrated clinical experience in an Australian health service sufficient to engage credibly with medical staff and clinical leaders.
- Demonstrated understanding of clinical workflows and healthcare delivery in a hospital or community setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and manage competing priorities.
- Experience with clinical information systems.
- Knowledge of clinical safety, data quality, and digital health standards.
