About the Role
- As the Manager, Work Health and Safety you will provide strategic and operational leadership for the organisation’s Work Health and Safety function and the continuous improvement of the WHS Management System across Barwon Health.
- The role is responsible for leading the WHS advisory team, overseeing key hazard prevention programs, and ensuring effective governance, monitoring and reporting of workplace health and safety risks
- The position supports leaders across Barwon Health to meet their legislative obligations and embed proactive safety management practices that protect staff, patients, visitors and contractors. The role plays a critical leadership role in fostering a positive organisational safety culture and ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, best practice standards and organisational priorities
Key responsibilities
- Lead the organisation’s WHS function, driving strategy, culture, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with organisational priorities.
- Oversee hazard identification, risk assessments, and implementation of key prevention programs to minimise workplace risks.
- Monitor WHS data, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide insights and reporting to support informed decision-making.
- Develop WHS capability across the organisation through coaching, mentoring, and strong stakeholder collaboration.
What we’re looking for
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in WHS leadership roles within large and complex organisation(s)
- Tertiary qualification, Bachelor minimum, in Occupational Health and Safety / Risk Management or related discipline.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Victorian OHS legislation, regulatory frameworks
- Experience implementing and managing WHS management systems and organisational risk management frameworks.
- Proven ability to lead teams and influence organisational safety culture.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into risk mitigation strategies.
