Barwon Health is seeking an experienced and motivated Nursing and Midwifery Recruitment Manager to lead our dedicated recruitment team and drive innovative strategies to attract, engage, and retain a highly skilled Nursing and Midwifery Workforce.

About the facility
Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong’s CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.
About the role
In this key leadership position, you will oversee all aspects of nursing and midwifery recruitment across Barwon Health. You will lead a team of recruitment professionals and work collaboratively with Nurse Unit Managers, Midwifery Unit Managers, and Facility Managers to ensure workforce needs are met through effective, timely, and candidate-focused recruitment processes.
You will play a vital role in workforce planning, talent acquisition, and support current staff mobility through internal transfers, pool and casual staffing, and early career pathways—helping to build a sustainable and agile workforce that supports exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Nursing and Midwifery Recruitment Team (NMRT), fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Develop and implement recruitment strategies that ensure a consistent pipeline of skilled and compassionate nurses and midwives.
- Partner with operational leaders to align recruitment initiatives with service needs and workforce planning priorities.
- Oversee the delivery of high-quality candidate and manager experiences throughout all stages of recruitment.
- Manage team performance, budgets, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including education providers and workforce partners.
About you
You are a dynamic and solutions-focused leader with:
- Proven experience in health or large-scale recruitment management, ideally within a clinical or hospital setting.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire, develop, and support a high-performing team.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management capabilities.
- A proactive and strategic mindset, with a focus on continuous improvement and workforce sustainability.
