About the role

We're looking for a skilled and motivated Maintenance Carpenter to join our Facilities team, where you'll play an important role in maintaining a safe, functional, and welcoming healthcare environment for our patients, staff, and visitors.

In this hands-on role, you'll deliver a wide range of carpentry and building maintenance services across the Health Service. From responding to reactive maintenance requests and completing minor construction projects to carrying out planned preventative maintenance, you'll help ensure our buildings and facilities remain in excellent condition.

Working across a diverse range of healthcare sites, you'll identify and resolve maintenance issues, coordinate day-to-day repairs, and contribute to the ongoing reliability of our facilities. You'll use your practical skills and problem-solving ability to deliver high-quality workmanship while ensuring compliance with safety standards and minimising disruption to clinical services.

This is a rewarding opportunity to apply your trade skills in a role that makes a real difference—supporting the delivery of high-quality healthcare by helping create safe, well-maintained spaces for the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality carpentry and building maintenance services, including reactive repairs, minor construction, installations, inspections, and planned preventative maintenance to ensure facilities remain safe, functional, and fit for purpose
  • Plan, coordinate, and complete maintenance works efficiently by accurately recording activities in the CMMS, communicating with stakeholders, and minimising disruption to clinical and support services
  • Work collaboratively within the Facilities and Engineering team, supporting colleagues and apprentices while contributing to continuous improvement and the achievement of operational objectives
  • Maintain compliance with all safety, legislative, and organisational requirements by following relevant policies, maintaining accurate documentation, and promoting a safe environment for patients, staff, visitors, and contractors

What we’re looking for

  • Trade-qualified Carpenter with demonstrated post-trade experience delivering high-quality carpentry, building maintenance, repairs, minor construction, and installation works
  • Strong technical knowledge of building materials, construction methods, relevant Australian Standards, and the safe operation of trade tools, plant, and equipment
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and efficiently across a diverse range of maintenance activities, ideally within a healthcare or similarly complex environment
  • Experience using computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) and the ability to coordinate maintenance or minor project works while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and customer service
