About the facility
Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong’s CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.
The Central Sterilising Unit (CSU) is located within Barwon Health University Hospital Geelong and provides reprocessing to Operating Services, Birth Suites, Intensive Care Unit, Emergency as well as a number of other departments within Barwon Health. We operate 7 days a week, for 18 hours a day. The Satellite Reprocessing Unit (SRU) is a newly built department and is located within Barwon Health Youang Surgery Center, reprocessing for Operating Services, Outpatients, External Services as well as many other areas of the organisation and beyond. Both departments have shared staff creating an experienced workforce that has the ability to alter work flows within both departments as needs dictate, ensuring that standards, policy and procedure are met at all times.
About the role
Barwon Health is looking for experienced Grade 5 Instrument Technicians for positions within the Central Sterilising Unit and Satellite Reprocessing Unit, joining our dynamic and diverse workforce.
About You
We require you to be a motiviated individual that has procedure and process in mind in order to achieve best patient/customer outcomes while working within a group of like minded individuals.
We are looking for someone who has the following:

Minimum 4 years experience in CSSD

Certificate IV in Sterilisation Services (or equivelant)

High level of understanding of the AS:5369 standards and digital tracking systems

Competency and comfort with utilising Microsoft Office

Ability to adapt to a frequently changing workplace in order to shift priorites to best suit patient outcomes

Ability to work across a variety of shifts and weekends

Ability to manage a dynamic workfloor to ensure the right RMDs are reprocessed at the right time, for the right customer in the right way

Ability to foster a supported and honest environment in the workplace, being mindful of the team and environment they are managing
