6. Access to a dedicated Rural-Based Training Hub
Training is conducted primarily in the South West Regional Training Hub where GSET training occurs under the jurisdiction of RACS and GSA with a very high pass rate of the part 2 fellowship at the first attempt and exceptional fellowship exam preparation.

Your Opportunity
The General Surgery Unit comprises 24 Consultants and a full time Director. The unit engages in a comprehensive Outpatient service with over 10000 patients a year with a face to face, virtual and telehealth model. The hospital has 14 main operating suites and 2 endoscopy theatres with an all day dedicated Acute theatre covering a wide spectrum of routine and advanced General Surgery. Your generic responsibilities:
- Undertake regular assessment and performance review, actively participate in unit and facility based educational programs and meet mandatory training requirements.
- Role model professionalism with respect to confidentiality, patient dignity, effective communication at primary patient care level and with staff, and the completion/maintenance of accurate and comprehensive medical records.
- Actively participate in teaching and supervision of Junior Medical Staff, Medical Students and other members of the multidisciplinary team. Undertake skills-based training to support this role.
- Contribute to a positive organizational culture, role model appropriate behavior in accordance with the Code of Conduct for the Victorian Public Service and provide Senior representation on hospital committees.
- May be required to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays, and/or be on-call including contribution to the General Surgery After Hours and Weekends Roster. There is minimal cover roles in this position
