 About the Role

We are seeking to employ a General Practitioner to work as a consultant alongside Paediatricians, registrars and allied health in our multidisciplinary general paediatric clinics (0-18 years, BRANCHS), based at the Early Parenting Centre, McKellar.

You’ll be part of a large paediatric team supported by an engaged consultant group, with responsibility for a 24-bed inpatient ward and a 13-bed Level 5 Nursery managing inborn deliveries from 31 weeks gestation. The role also includes direct involvement in the care of 1–3 intensive care paediatric patients within a mixed adult–paediatric ICU service.

This position reflects a new commitment to investing in the provision of general paediatric outpatient services across the Barwon region and will complement existing outpatient clinics based at University Hospital Geelong and community child health clinics located at Barwon North.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Deliver high-quality outpatient care in a general paediatric clinic, working within a multidisciplinary team under appropriate supervision
  • Provide safe, evidence-based, patient- and family-centred care, supporting informed decision-making and chronic disease management
  • Contribute to clinical quality and safety through adherence to standards, policies, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support a positive team culture through collaboration, communication, and participation in meetings and shared clinical responsibilities

 

What we’re looking for 

  • Medical degree, eligible for registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Fellowship
  • FRACGP or equivalent
  • Possess a genuine interest in paediatric outpatient care
