About the facility

Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong’s CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.

 

About the role

In this role you will require knowledge and experience in the broad practice of Emergency Medicine, including Adult medicine, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Trauma and Toxicology and the full range of emergencies encountered in various specialties.

 

Your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Direct patient care
  • Team Leader roles across General, Resuscitation, Short Stay Units, Fast Track & Children's ED
  • Clinical Senior Medical Officer shifts at Colac Area Health Urgent Care Centre
  • Liaison with referring doctors/hospitals regarding patients being referred to ED
  • Liaison and provision of clinical advice to paramedics and community-based clinicians
  • Supervision of all clinical staff working within the ED
  • Provision of telehealth clinical care and co-ordination to regional and community based services
  • In collaboration with ED Nurse in Charge, be responsible for overall senior clinical oversight and co-ordination of the ED
  • Participation in ED Consultant clinical roster including on-call responsibilities
  • Supervision of Short Stay Units & MHAOD Hub
  • Co-ordination of interhospital transfers and retrievals where required
  • Co-ordination of ED response to disasters or mass casualty incidents
  • Involvement in active clinical research, with the opportunity to further develop a research portfolio
  • Support the delivery of high quality clinical education and training to Emergency Services staff
  • Participate in clinical support activities to develop quality improvement initiatives and contribute to operational requirements of the service
