About the role

BSWRICS are looking to recruit a Data Collection Officer with a primary focus on data collection into the Evaluation of Cancer Outcomes Registry. This position will be required to liaise with health services in the Barwon South West region. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside a highly committed team of clinicians and project managers who drive innovation in cancer care across the region. You will be self-motivated, flexible, a team player and have skills in data collection and health information management. Ideally you will also have an understanding of cancer related data. 

This is position is full-time fixed term contract until May 2027. Travel to regional sites will be required. 

 

Key responsibilities 

  • Collect and maintain accurate patient data, including conducting medical record reviews and ensuring timely data entry.
  • Perform regular data quality audits, resolve discrepancies, and ensure all work aligns with organisational policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external organisations to obtain required information and support data requirements.
  • Prepare reports and provide updates to the Deputy Program Director, while supporting the development and maintenance of the RACER database and clinical indicators.

 

What we’re looking for 

  • Knowledge of healthcare systems and cancer care, with experience in clinical data collection.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • High-level computer literacy and data governance awareness, including confidentiality, privacy, and willingness to learn new systems.
