About the role
Barwon Health’s Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Services (MHDAS) is one of the largest regional mental health services in Australia, delivering comprehensive, recovery-oriented care across acute, community and specialist programs. Recognised as a leader in mental health reform, MHDAS is at the forefront of innovative service delivery aligned to Victoria’s Royal Commission into Mental Health.
Based at the Swanston Centre, our 32-bed acute inpatient unit, this role provides specialist psychiatric leadership within a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment supporting consumers experiencing acute mental health episodes.
You will play a key role in delivering safe, evidence-based inpatient care while supporting timely discharge and transition to community services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead inpatient care and treatment planning for acute presentations
- Provide clinical supervision and support to junior medical staff
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to optimise consumer outcomes
What We Are Looking For
You are a collaborative and adaptable Consultant Psychiatrist who:
- Holds Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists
- Has strong acute inpatient or hospital-based experience
- Demonstrates leadership and commitment to high-quality care
