About the role
This leadership role within the Barwon South West Public Health Unit is ideal for an experienced and strategic manager capable of leading a dedicated regional team in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of health promotion initiatives. The role focuses on strengthening a coordinated, system-wide approach to improving health and wellbeing outcomes across the Barwon South West region, with particular emphasis on the South West area. The position can be based in Geelong or Warrnambool and involves regional travel.
The role’s core responsibility is to build sustainable capacity across the regional prevention and population health system. This includes developing, leading, and embedding strong partnerships across the region’s population health and prevention ecosystem, enabling partners to work collectively, strategically, and sustainably to achieve positive community health outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Community Partnerships team, overseeing program performance, staff development, and achievement of KPIs.
- Provide strategic leadership in health promotion and primary prevention, developing, implementing, and evaluating population health initiatives using evidence-based approaches.
- Advance coordinated public health planning and system-level impact, including monitoring, evaluation, and reporting to inform data-driven decision-making.
- Ensure compliance and safety, maintaining accurate documentation, information management, and adherence to occupational health and safety standards.
What we’re looking for
- Proven leadership and management experience, including supervising teams and managing programs in a health or community services setting.
- Expertise in health promotion and primary prevention, with knowledge of evidence-based approaches and population health planning.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build partnerships and report to funding bodies.
- Commitment to compliance and workplace safety, including accurate documentation, information management, and adherence to OHS policies.
