About the role 

This is a strategic leadership role within the Barwon South West Public Health Unit, responsible for strengthening evaluation, monitoring, and knowledge management systems across population health and health promotion programs. The position leads the development and implementation of robust evaluation frameworks to support evidence-informed practice, demonstrate impact, and drive continuous improvement in community health and wellbeing outcomes.

A core focus of the role is building evaluation capability across the Community Partnerships and Healthy Communities teams, while embedding a culture of data-informed decision-making and prevention-focused practice.

 

Key responsibilities 

  • Demonstrate understanding of relevant organisational and regional strategic plans and contribute to the planning, coordination, and evaluation of programs within the Healthy Communities and Community Partnerships team. Proactively monitor service outcomes and implement improvement initiatives to enhance performance and impact.
  • Lead and contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of population health and health promotion initiatives aligned with the Barwon South West Population Health Catchment Plan. Support evidence-based practice, health outcomes measurement, and continuous improvement in program delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong collaborative partnerships to support joint initiatives and effective service delivery across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and reporting, including responsibility for annual reporting to funding bodies. Promote adherence to organisational, professional, and legislative standards, including health and safety, quality assurance, and documentation requirements.

 

What we’re looking for 

  • Tertiary qualification in Health Promotion, Public Health or a related discipline, with strong knowledge of health promotion principles and practice including systems thinking, collective impact and place-based approaches
  • Demonstrated experience in health promotion planning, implementation and evaluation using evidence-based approaches
  • Proven leadership, collaboration and partnership development experience in primary prevention settings
  • Strong strategic thinking, communication skills, and ability to lead and support others through change, with a current Victorian Driver’s Licence
