About the Role

The Clinical Trial Team Leader - Cancer Services Trials Unit will lead a team of study coordinators and trials assistants to support current and upcoming trials.  Reporting to the Clinical Trials Manager, the Team Leader’s responsibilities will include trial protocol feasibility assessments, and trial team resource management. The Team Leader will oversee the coordination and management of clinical trials in oncology, fostering strong working relationships with key internal and external parties including trial sponsors, study monitors, investigators, patients and nursing staff. This position is for 76 hours a fortnight on an ongoing basis.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead and manage the clinical trials team, including workforce planning, recruitment, rostering, performance development, staff support, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional excellence.
  • Drive clinical trial feasibility and start-up activities, partnering with investigators and stakeholders to assess risks, resources, logistics, budgets, and study requirements to successfully establish new trials.
  • Ensure compliant and high-quality trial conduct, overseeing adherence to ethics, governance, ICH-GCP guidelines, regulatory requirements, and documented Principal Investigator oversight across all studies.
  • Oversee trial operations and participant safety, ensuring accurate data management, protocol compliance, adverse event reporting, patient confidentiality, and timely completion of study milestones and deliverables.

 

What we’re looking for

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Nursing, Science, Health Science, or a related discipline, with extensive clinical trials experience.
  • Proven leadership and communication skills, with the ability to lead teams and build effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong organisational, project management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and work independently.
  • Sound knowledge of ICH-GCP, NHMRC guidelines, and clinical trial data management systems.
