Clinical Support Nurse, Perioperative Anaesthetics/PACU

About the Centre for Education and Training
The Centre for Education and Training leads an integrated approach to clinical education and training, helping Barwon Health to achieve its education goals by delivering, supporting and promoting coordinated, quality education and training across health care roles in Barwon Health and the Barwon South Western region. We comprise of an inter-professional team of clinical educators and support staff across allied health, nursing, midwifery, and medical disciplines, working together to develop clinicians who model excellent practice, challenge poor practice, and inspire others.
About the role
The Clinical Support Nurse (CSN) will support clinical learning in nursing units in a practical and applied way to ensure nursing care and nursing practice are maintained at the highest level. The position is clinically based, and CSN will be included as a member of the Centre for Education and Training team and will anticipate and respond to the clinical practice needs of newly registered nurses and enrolled nurses working within the clinical area. The role also supports all clinicians working within the clinical area, including conducting competency-based skills, bedside coaching, and mentorship for safe patient outcomes.
The role works in direct collaboration with the Clinical Nurse/Midwifery Educators, NUM/MUM and the Education and Training Leadership team.
Key responsibilities
- Facilitate clinical skill development and confidence in nurses/midwives through education, mentoring, and support at the point of care
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate education programs and professional development activities in collaboration with the Education & Training team and clinical leaders
- Promote and ensure compliance with patient safety, quality standards, and evidence-based practice, including NSQHS requirements
- Maintain high standards of professional practice, documentation, and adherence to organisational policies, including information management and OHS
What we’re looking for
- Registered Nurse or Midwife with AHPRA and recent, demonstrated clinical experience with a high standard of clinical practice
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently and lead change
- Highly developed organisational skills with proficiency in written communication and computer applications (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and competency-based assessment, with adherence to EEO and OH&S policies and guidelines
