About the Role

The Clinical Research Liaison Nurse supports safe, coordinated and patient-centred care for participants enrolled in clinical trials across Cancer Services at Barwon Health. The role provides a clinical liaison function between clinical trial teams, day treatment areas, inpatient wards and relevant support services to ensure trial participant attendances, admissions, treatments, monitoring and handovers are planned and delivered in accordance with approved protocols, ICH GCP, Barwon Health policies and applicable regulatory and clinical governance requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead and manage the clinical trials team, including workforce planning, recruitment, rostering, performance development, staff support, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional excellence.
  • Drive clinical trial feasibility and start-up activities, partnering with investigators and stakeholders to assess risks, resources, logistics, budgets, and study requirements to successfully establish new trials.
  • Ensure compliant and high-quality trial conduct, overseeing adherence to ethics, governance, ICH-GCP guidelines, regulatory requirements, and documented Principal Investigator oversight across all studies.
  • Oversee trial operations and participant safety, ensuring accurate data management, protocol compliance, adverse event reporting, patient confidentiality, and timely completion of study milestones and deliverables.

 

What we’re looking for

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA, with relevant post-registration clinical nursing experience in oncology, haematology, acute care, day treatment, clinical trials or another relevant clinical setting.
  • Current clinical experience with oncology/haematology, chemotherapy/day infusion services or complex medication administration pathways.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate patient flow, bookings, admissions and service interfaces across multiple clinical areas.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate protocol requirements into clear operational guidance for clinical staff.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clinical trial teams, nursing teams, investigators, support services, patients and carers.
