About the role
The Clinical Products Adviser reports to the Director of Procurement and Supply and is an important part of the Procurement and Supply Team, responsible for providing support and advice on clinical matters to the Procurement team and other stakeholders. The role will provide clinical advice on product suitability and fit for purpose evaluations and liaise with appropriate clinical experts at Barwon health to assist with sourcing and purchasing activity, with particular focus on the Surgical and Critical Care portfolio. The CPA ensures clinical integrity within the procurement process through the provision of expert clinical advice and support in the delivery of the Barwon Health Annual Procurement Activity Plan, as well as appropriate engagement with clinical stakeholders.
The CPA is responsible for engaging clinical practitioners to better understand their needs, facilitate product evaluations and support the sourcing process. The CPA will facilitate product trials and evaluations of new and existing clinical products. They will support and assist stakeholders and evaluation panel team members within the business to ensure they understand their role and that they conduct evaluations correctly This role is responsible for implementing procedures to ensure robust and structured implementation of new clinical products and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead clinical product evaluations and manage product trials to support evidence-based patient care and procurement decisions.
- Act as the key liaison between clinicians, procurement teams, suppliers, and hospitals regarding product performance, recalls, training, and innovation.
- Support contract management by assessing products for clinical effectiveness, cost efficiency, sustainability, and compliance with procurement requirements.
- Oversee product review, recall, and governance processes, including participation in Product Review and Evaluation Committees.
- Drive product standardisation, inventory optimisation, and staff engagement to improve operational efficiency and patient-focused outcomes.
What we’re looking for
- Registered nurse with recent broad clinical experience, strong clinical knowledge, and a commitment to delivering optimal patient care outcomes.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate, and build effective relationships across multidisciplinary teams and senior leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, drive outcomes, prioritise competing demands, and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Sound understanding of clinical products, tender specifications, procurement processes, and healthcare systems, with awareness of government regulations and contract requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital systems, with desirable experience in project management, clinical research, and acute/public health sector environments.
